Objective of the Project:
Construction of 30-inch 67-km 1000 psig gas transmission pipeline to increase the overall gas supply capacity of the national gas grid and maintaining uninterrupted gas supply to the franchise areas of Titas Gas T&D Co. Ltd. (District of Gazipur, Mymensingh and Tangail), franchise areas of Parchimanchal Gas Company Limited (Rajshahi Division) and franchise areas of Sundarban Gas Company Limited (Khulna Division) including gas supply to Sirajganj proposed 450 MW power station & other power stations and under constructed Bheramara 450 MW power stations.

Project Activities & Progress :
Procurements of all materials including Pipes (Under Package-1) were completed. Six River Crossings by HDD (Under Package-2) were completed. Under Package-3, the Fabrication & Installation works of Dhanua RMS, Elenga MMS & Sirajganj RMS have been completed. Shipments of equipment for Pre-Commissioning & Commissioning were delayed because of COVID-19 Global Pandemic causing delay in commencement of the Pre-Commissioning & Commissioning activities. In the meantime the 67-km pipeline (Under Package-4) has been commissioned on completion of construction.
Right of Way (ROW)/Land Related Progress & Issues:
The acquisition & requisition of land along ROW in Gazipur, Mymensingh, Tangail & Sirajgang district were completed. GTCL sought permission to Forest Department on 21-07-2016 for using forest land along the ROW in Shakhipur upazilla under Tangail district but the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change provided approval belatedly on 20-07-2020 for using forest land & on 17-01- 2021 for tree cutting.
Resettlement Related Progress & Issues:
An NGO, namely, UDOY was appointed to assist properly implementation of the Resettlement Action Plan (RAP) of the project for compensating project affected peoples due to the land acquisition & requisition. Resettlement of the PAPs under the project has been completed as per the guideline of JICA.
