Objective of the Project:

To increase the overall gas flow capacity of the national gas grid by constricting 30-inch 52-km high pressure gas transmission pipeline from Dhanua to Elenga and 30-inch 15-km Bangabandhu Bridge to Nalka high pressure gas transmission pipeline. Uninterrupted gas supply to Titas Gas franchise areas (Gazipur, Mymensingh and Tangail), Parchimanchal franchise areas (Rajshahi Division) and Sundarban franchise areas (Khulna Division). Besides these, gas supplies to Sirajgonj propose 450 MW power station including other power stations and Bheramara 450 MW power stations.

  • Project Activities & Progress :

Under the Procurement of Pipeline Materials and Equipment (Package-1), the supply of all the materials including line pipes, valves, fittings etc. were completed by the Contractor. Under the 6 River Crossings by HDD Method (Package-2), the 6 six rivers such as Bongshai, Tonki-1, Tonki-2, Safai, Langalia & Salda river crossing were completed. Under the Installation of 3 RMS/MMS (Package-3), the engaged EPC Contractor Valvitalia S.p.A – Systems Division, Italy completed Design & Drawing works. Pre fabrication works has been going on. Civil works has been almost completed. Under Construction of 67.2 km Pipeline (Package-4), around 52 km pipeline construction works has been completed. The West Bank of Bangabandhu Bridge-Nalka 15.2 km pipeline has been already been commissioned. Due to not getting permission from Forest Department for using forest land, the pipeline construction works of around 15 km along the Right of Way (ROW) in Dhanua-Elenega Section of the Project has not been started yet. The Ministry of Environment, Forest & Climate Change has sent Executive Summary to the honorable Prime Minister’s Office for the approval of forest land.

  • Right of Way (ROW)/Land Related Progress & Issues :

Land handover in Gazipur, Mymensingh, Sirajgong & Tangail district (except land under Forest Department) has been completed. GTCL vide a letter dated 27 July 2016 addressing to Divisional Forest Officer, Tangail had applied for permission of using the forest land. This matter has been advancing several times in the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change after several communications and different observations made by the Ministry. The revised Executive Summary has been made by the Ministry of Environment, Forest & Climate Change following the instruction of honorable Prime Minister and sent to honorable Prime Minister’s Office on 02-07-2020 for approval.

  • Resettlement Related Progress & Issues:

An NGO, namely, UDOY was appointed to assist properly implementation of the Resettlement Action Plan (RAP) of the project for compensating project affected peoples due to the land acquisition & requisition. Resettlement under Gazipur & Sirajgang District ROW portion was completed. Around 75% of the Resettlement works of Tangail District ROW portion has been completed and the remaining has been continuing.
